Overheard At Vantage Point

University Advancement and Human Resource Management were happy to host 38 graduates of the Leadership Development Program* on Thursday, May 15th. As part of the Vantage Point program, the luncheon featured Corporators John Burke, BHS’73, and Mark Vachon, DMSB’82 (pictured) as guest alumni industry experts who facilitated a discussion around leading innovation and change, one of the core competencies of Northeastern’s leadership model.
Senior Vice President of University Advancement Diane MacGillivray opened the program by endorsing its purpose. She stated, “This type of energy — this fresh exchange of ideas sparks enlightened leadership. It transforms cultures and companies, and values purpose as much as profit.”
Focusing on case examples from NBC Universal, Staples, GE Ecomagination and GE Health Care the participants reflected on the challenges and opportunities that evolving industries face. Guests in attendance were graduates of the LDP program* sponsored by the Training and Development department in Human Resource Management.
A staff member who participated in the session shared, “The ‘real world’ examples of innovation and leadership principles were very useful. The Q & A was valuable and it was great to see fellow LDP grads taking advantage of this opportunity. Having an hour to actually think about leadership and change management was a gift.”
