AirCompare 
How does your community’s air compare to other U.S. cities? Find data on whether the air quality has improved or declined, and what time of year has the best air quality. The information in this database comes from the Air Quality System Data Mart, which is maintained by the Environmental Protection Agency. 

Chemical Spills & Accidents Database
Contains data on toxic chemical spills and other accidents reported to the National Response Center. Data available for the years 1982-2008. OMBWatch manages this database.

Cleanups in My Community 
The Environmental Protection Agency has created a database to map and list areas where pollution is being or has been cleaned up around the United States. Included are sites, facilities and properties under EPA’s Superfund, RCRA and Brownfields cleanup programs. You can also view cleanup information from tribal lands and water monitoring stations.

Discharge Monitoring Data (EPA) 
Use this database to find for information on pollutants in the nation’s watersheds. You can search by zip code, EPA region, pollutant or industry (discharger), among other parameters. The Environmental Protection Agency maintains this database. Latest information available is from 2007.

Hazardous Materials Incident Report Database ($)
The HAZMAT database contains the incident reports of unintentional releases of hazardous materials for all modes of transportation (air, highway, railway, and water). This database is managed by Investigative Reporters & Editors.

Hazardous Waste Database
Search data on the generation, shipment, and receipt of hazardous waste by state. This database is managed by OMBWatch.

Hazardous Waste -Violations & Permits Database
Search data on hazardous waste handler permits and activities. This database is managed by OMBWatch.

HazMat Facilities Database
Search for information on facilities that  that use large amounts of extremely hazardous substances (number of facilities by state). This database is managed by OMBWatch.

Invasive Plant Atlas of New England
A comprehensive Web-accessible database of invasive and potentially invasive plants in New England that will be continually updated by a network of professionals and trained volunteers. An important focus of the project is the early detection of, and rapid response to, new invasions. The Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Connecticut maintains this database.

National Emissions Inventory
This inventory, hosted by the Environmental Protection Agency, provides a comprehensive estimate of air emissions from all sources. The NEI is compiled every three years; the most recent is from 2008.

Residential Energy Consumption Survey
View data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration on energy consumption. Information is broken down by a number of characteristics, including appliances, computers, fuels used and air conditioning.

Toxics Release Inventory
Search by state the releases and transfers of toxic chemicals from facilities in certain industrial sectors, including manufacturing, waste handling, mining, and electricity generation. The database also includes the total amount of toxic chemicals in waste a facility produces. This database is maintained by OMBWatch.

Environmental Conditions Online

Maine

Air Quality Data
Reports on real-time and historic data on air quality and ozone levels; the Bureau of Air Quality maintains this information.

Biomonitoring Data from Google Earth
Provides select biological, physical and chemical data; Bureau of Land & Water Quality maintains this database.

Geographic Information Services Database
The Maine Department of Environment Protection GIS Unit offers selected data, geographically referenced, from a number of the department’s databases to the public through Google Earth (e.g. waste management, hazmat spills, healthy beaches). You will need to have Google Earth and/or the Google Earth Plugin installed to view this data.

Massachusetts

Air & Climate Data
Trends and data on pollutants, daily air quality and ozone levels; the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection manages this data.

Department of Environmental Protection Databases
Search for information on asbestos projects, hazardous waste sites and wetlands “notices of intent” by community; view municipal waste combustor facility and trend reports or the Massachusetts Oil & Hazardous Materials List, among others.

Division of Fisheries & Wildlife Biomonitoring Data
Access biological monitoring data that has been collected on all properties owned by the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife. You can limit your search to specific properties or programs, and then search by survey type or species.

Energy Market Data
Find data and other information related to energy markets, including electric customer migration data and lists of competitive suppliers for electricity and natural gas. This database site also includes reports and regulations. The Executive Office of Energy & Environmental Affairs maintains this data.

Fish Mercury Research Data Portal
Data on mercury levels of fish and fish consumption advisories around the state; the Department of Environmental Protection manages this database.

Geographic Information System Database
Available datalayers include: Image Data; Census/Statistical Data; Coastal and Marine Features
Conservation/Recreation; Cultural Resources; Environmental Monitoring; Indexes; Infrastructure; Physical Resources; Political/Administrative Boundaries; and Regulated Areas. This service is maintained by the Massachusetts Office of Geographic Information.

New Hampshire

Air Quality & Monitoring Data
A network of air quality monitors throughout the state to measure levels of ozone, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, particulate matter, and a number of other pollutants in the outdoor (ambient) air. The Department of Environmental Services manages this data.

Environmental Monitoring Database
This database contains field observations, measurements, and laboratory samples for various programs within the Department of Environmental Services (DES) and other agencies that choose to contribute. Data sets are continuously being added and updated.

Environmental Reports
A number of reports are available on this site from the Department of Environmental Services, including the department’s annual reports, as well as topic specific reports such as waste management and water quality.

OneStop Web Geographic Information System (GIS)
This service provides access to a wide range of data, including asbestos disposal sites, water well inventory, hazardous waste generators, automobile salvage yards and underground storage tank facilities. You must use Internet Explorer to view this GIS. The Department of Environmental Services maintains this system.

Rhode Island

Air Quality Data
Reports and data on pollutants and air toxics; the Office of Air Resources maintains this data.

Environmental Data Reports
View data reports on superfund sites, particulate monitoring, solid waste, water quality and beach monitoring, among others; the Department of Environmental Management manages these reports.

RIGIS
The Rhode Island Geographic Information System is a consortium of databases of comprehensive geographically-related information, including on political boundaries, biology and ecology, man-made construction, human health and transportation.

Vermont

Air Toxics Program
Links to real-time air quality data, information on state reduction efforts and a comprehensive air toxics report from 1998 (most recent); the Air Pollution Control Division manages this information.

Environment Reports
Annual reports on a number of topics, including climate and weather, water, pollution and land conservation; most recent data is from 2003. The Agency of Natural Resources manages this information.

Geographic Information System
Retrieve data on a variety of topics, such as farming, ecology, fresh water resources and economic information; you can also search by keyword. The Vermont Center for Geographic Information manages this database.

Hazardous Sites
Search for information on hazardous waste sites. This database is sponsored by the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources.
