Chai & Chat #2 – Parental Expectations
No matter how old we are, our parents will always have expectations for us, whether they pertain to our career paths, cultural values, or marriage. As South Asians and South Asian Americans, parental expectations can play a big part in our everyday lives. Do you agree that parental expectations influenced your values? Want to discuss how cultural environment plays a role in the expectations your parents place on you? Interested in learning about other people’s experiences? Craving chai? Come and share your thoughts at our second Chai & Chat: Parental Expectations!
*There will be chai!
Facilitators: Vishwa Dhuleshia and Rasha Baig
But what is Chai & Chat?
Chai & Chat is UTSAV’s discussion series, designed to facilitate thoughtful discussion within the NEU South Asian American community about the issues that affect our experience. Our goal is to pursue the Asian American Center’s three core values: self-knowledge, community awareness, and intentional allyship. We hope this initiative helps provide spaces for dialogue, context for individual experience, and opportunities for people to learn. Let us know if you’re interested in a particular topic – discussing or facilitating – by emailing us at email@example.com.
Help us BLAZE a trail for Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief by grabbing some amazing pizza!
Come out to our official Dance4Me fundraiser on Nov 30th from 5-9pm. All proceeds will benefit Americares, aiding in the rebuilding of communities affected by hurricanes in Puerto Rico.
Show the flyer (pinned in the event) at check out to ensure a portion of your check is donated!
