President – Bryan Belice | Environmental Studies ’16
Bryan served for 5 years as an Airborne Infantryman with D Company 3/509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Attached to the 4/25 Infantry Division based out of Ft Richardson, Alaska. He Was deployed to Iskandariyah, Iraq 2006-2007 as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and to Paktika, Afghanistan 2009-2010 where he served as a driver, gunner, and dismounted infantryman. Bryan is pursuing a BA in Environmental Studies which he hopes to use working in the field (literally) of agriculture, particularly urban, sustainable, and community oriented projects. Bryan is also an active member of NU HEAT ( Husky Environmental Action Team ) where he heads the Garden and Composting committees. He is also an active member and fundraiser for Team RWB, a veterans oriented non-profit dedicated to enriching the lives of America’s veterans through athletics and community. In his spare time he likes to grow vegetables, run and train for ultra marathons, and binge watch TV series online.
Vice President – Ben Beckvold | Computer Engineering ’14
Ben served as a Sonar Electronic Technician and VBSS team member in the United States Navy from 2006 to 2012. While on board the USS Nicholas he deployed to Europe as part of a NATO task group, East Africa to secure sea lanes from Somali Pirates and to Central America to prevent narcotics trafficking.
Ben has been a part of the SVO for a year and is currently on co-op doing software testing for American Science and Engineering.
Secretary – Kim Annson | Criminal Justice ’13
Kim served as an Automated Logistical Specialist in the United States Army from 2004-2009, with two deployments to Iraq. She is working toward a degree in Criminal Justice and hopes to purse a federal career. She has been a member of the SVO for a year and assumed the position of Secretary in July 2012. Recently, she was on CO-OP with the Coast Guard Investigation Services (DHS) But is now in her final semester at NU.
Treasurer - Uriel Amador | Finance ’16
Uri served four years in the Marines as an infantry scout with 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. During his time with the Marines, he deployed twice to Iraq where he conducted Counter Insurgency operations.
Uri has been a member of the SVO for a year and has completed one co-op with MFS Investment Management.
Andy McCarty | Director of Veteran and Military Services
For more than seven years, Andy McCarty has worked in Student Financial Services at Northeastern University. Prior to NU, he was employed in the Government and Community Affairs Department at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood, CA. From 2000-2004, Andy was enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at the Edwards AFB Flight Test Center in California’s Mojave Desert where he served as coordinator to the Blue Eagles Honor Guard, the busiest base-level honor guard in the Air Force. Andy deployed to Egypt in 2001 and Qatar in 2002.
