This is the syllabus for a class taught in the fall of 2012. The dates change for any given semester when I teach the Intro to Coop class, but the substantive pieces remain the same. It will give you a general idea of what we try to accomplish.
Mr. Mayle put Provence on the map. He wrote books about moving to France and dealing with crazy French people, the genre became very popular. Generally about Americans or Brits who on a whim move to some rustic area of some European country, usually warm, rural, and with good food and wine, and ruined farmhouses, and get taken by the natives. But since $Money never seems to be an issue, it is all in good, if not great, fun. All these books make you want to move to these places. This book is a sort of detective novel, set in the port city of Marseille. Where the seafood is heavenly, the sun shines 300 days a year, the wine is amazing and the city just sounds like I want to move there and deal with the crazy natives. Despite having read all those books that tell you this is not for the faint of heart. Toujours in Marseille!!
