The first rehearsal this semester with be Tuesday, September 10th. We will rehearse from 6 PM-8:30 PM at the Fenway Center, and anyone who is interested is welcome to come! Please arrive promptly at 5:45 PM so we can get everyone registered and begin on time. You will need your instruments for the first rehearsal. If you need to rent an instrument, please contact our manager, Melody Chang, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Since this is the beginning of the academic year, everyone, including previous members of the orchestra, will need to audition for seats. Auditions for any instrument will be starting on September 9th, after the first rehearsal. For those that are ready to audition, we highly encourage you to take this opportunity! It makes the rest of the audition process and seating decisions much easier for Evan. Auditions will continue into the following week after the second rehearsal
We also have some information regarding dues. Dues will be $20 for 1 semester and $35 for 2 semesters until October 14th. After October 14th, dues will revert to the normal rate of $25 for 1 semester and $40 for 2 semesters.
Remember to pay your dues early to save money! Our treasurer, Jasmine, will be collecting dues starting at the first rehearsal. If you are a member of multiple musical groups on campus, contact Jasmine at email@example.com
about paying combined dues for your groups.
Remember to register for orchestra as a class! The class code is MUSC1906. This is important for filling out our roster and making attendance easier.
Sunny He, our wonderful Events Coordinator, will unfortunately be unable to participate in orchestra this semester. As such, we will be having elections for the Events Coordinator position on E-Board
. This position is responsible for tour, organizing socials, and finding senior gifts – more specific info can be found on the website http://nuweb9.neu.edu/orchestra/?page_id=481
. Participating on the E-Board is a rewarding experience that not only supplements your resume, but also gives you many opportunities to build leadership skills and get more involved with the orchestra. Please email Judi and Ariel if you wish to run for the position, or if you want to know more about the position/E-Board!
This semester we will be starting a Big/Little program in orchestra! A returning member of orchestra will be paired with a new member, typically of the same/similar major based on those that sign up. Big/little combos will be given a set list of things to complete (to be sent out after), with activities like “hang out during break” and “study together”. You do not have to complete the list, or even anything on it if you two so choose; however, the duo that completes the most by the end of the semester will receive free AMC movie tickets! More details will follow when the bigs and littles are paired up!
This is on a volunteer basis. If you are interested, please fill out this form by Thursday, Sept. 11th:
