Welcome to the Spring Semester 2015!

Happy New Year Everyone! We hope you had a wonderful winter break.

The first rehearsal for orchestra will be Tuesday, January 13 – the first week of NEU classes. The rehearsal will be in the Fenway Center from 6-8:30PM, and is open to all those who are interested. Please arrive at 5:45PM so we can get everyone registered and start on time. New members can audition after rehearsal. Returning members from last semester do not need to re-audition.

Great news! The chamber music class is (finally!) being formed . Evan will talk to all those interested after rehearsal, before audition.

And as always, don’t forget to register for orchestra as a class! The class is MUSC 1906.

We look forward to seeing everyone, and here’s to another great semester!

We’re having our annual UNO’s all-you-can-eat buffet on November 18th after rehearsal! It costs $16 per person, including tax and gratuity! We can receive up to 20% of the receipt, so feel free to bring your friends, even if they aren’t in orchestra! Jasmine will collect the money during rehearsals and right before UNOs.

E-Board is making pre-concert goodie bags! Each will contain assorted wrapped foods and water for you to enjoy between rehearsal and the concert, or after the concert if you so choose. Make sure to pick one up on Friday at rehearsal! Please let us know if you have any allergies.

11/11 Rehearsal and Updates

Rehearsal Schedule 11/11
6 PM – 7 PM - Haydn
7 PM – 8:45 PM - Rimsky-Korsakov

*When you come to rehearsal, please remember to sign in*

Our dress rehearsals are scheduled for November 17th and November 18th from 6 to 8:30, though they will likely go to 9. Remember, dress rehearsals are mandatory to play in the concert.

E-Board is holding elections for the following positions for Spring 2015: Vice President, Secretary,  Manager, Events Coordinator, and Fundraising Coordinator. If you are  interested or have any questions about the positions, please email Judi (nuorchestra@gmail.com) and Ariel (nuso.president@gmail.com). You only need to have been in orchestra for one semester to run! E-Board is a great way to get involved with orchestra – we do a lot of the  logistical and behind-the-scenes work to keep the orchestra running smoothly and  bring the concert together.  It’s also a GREAT leadership position for  your resume!
We are bringing pizza and brownies to this rehearsal for Veteran’s Day (yum )! Brownies will be out for all before, during, and after rehearsal (we’ll make sure some is left for winds, no worries!), and pizza will be  brought out after rehearsal.

Practice rooms are on the third floor of Ryder (code: 2-5-1). As members of orchestra we have access to these rooms (woohoo! ) but, unfortunately, we are not able to reserve them in advance. Other  practice room alternatives are empty academic classrooms at night,  practicing in your room, or reading through the music while listening to the recordings.

E-Board is selling handwarmers! Finding Boston a bit chilly? The E-Board will be selling homemade handwarmers this week. It is first come first serve, and we will have a microwave to warm them up for you before you leave rehearsal!
