Jewish Studies Program
Jenny Sartori is Associate Director of the Jewish Studies Program and Co-Director, with Dr. Jayne Guberman, of the Adoption and Jewish Identity Project. She received her B.A. in History from Haverford College and her M.A. and Ph.D. in History from Emory University. Her academic work has focused on the shaping of modern Jewish identities, from her graduate work on the education of Jewish girls in 19th- and 20th-century France through her current work on adoption and Jewish identity in the United States today. She teaches courses on modern Jewish history in Europe and the United States and on gender and Jewish culture and identity, in addition to managing the Jewish Studies program’s operations, developing curriculum, and arranging public events. Prior to Northeastern, Sartori served as Director of Education at the Jewish Women’s Archive, where she spearheaded JWA’s educational outreach campaigns aimed at strengthening the portrayal of women in Jewish educational settings. .She is currently conducting a survey for American Jewish adoptive parents, available here.
