The Boston Redevelopment Authority’s (BRA) Research Division and the Dukakis Center have partnered to create a Labor Market Assessment Tool (LMAT) to assist the City with current and future economic development decisions and help identify opportunities.
The Labor Market Assessment Tool is an interactive computer-based program that is capable of estimating wages and the distribution of occupations by educational, skill, knowledge, and training requirements by industry for both current and future labor market scenarios.
The LMAT examines the labor market of a particular geography to determine occupational projections as well as the demographic characteristics of a potential labor supply.
The BRA’s Research Division produces a regular LMAT Series, a collection of reports focusing on the various applications of the program, including general discussions of the skill requirements and wage distributions associated with selected industries and the labor market as a whole. In addition, the LMAT Series analyzes the relationship between occupational requirements and worker attributes in Boston’s population.
