Pathologist: Autopsy could answer questions in civil rights cold case from 1965

Then-constable Luther Steverson shot to death Joseph Robert McNair in Pelahatchie, Miss., on Nov. 6, 1965.

Steverson said he fired his .22 caliber pistol once in self-defense. The coroner agreed, and so did a justice of the peace, ruling the killing a justifiable homicide.
