The Confederate flag will no longer fly in front of the Caddo Parish Courthouse in Shreveport after parish officials voted to remove it. The Times reports the Caddo Commission on Thursday voted 11-1 to take down the flag and flagpole that flies it.

The flag has been displayed since 1951 as part of a Confederate monument, which bears carvings of the flags.
